4-Dec-2008

I almost died today

Okay so I may be over reacting a bit, but have you ever had your brakes go out in your car, without warning? This is the second time in my life this has happened to me, but it’s something I haven’t gotten used to. (For those of you in Mankato, this occured at the intersection of Madison Ave and Riverfront.) During the lunch time rush, I was slowing as I approached a purple van stopped in front of me, when my brake peddle went right to the floor. With quick thinking and surely the grace of God, I missed the van(and many many other drivers) by centimeters, and pulled safely to the curb. Instantly my mind raced to the “what if’s and “almosts” and “just barely” of what could have been.

I don’t share many personal stories here, but today I felt the need to share, because it certainly gave me a wake up call. I felt better about coming home tonight, I left the dishes pile up, pushed some of my work off until tomorrow and I wrote a dear friend a letter instead, next I’m heading off to enjoy some quite time with my husband.

Each day we have is a blessing, sometimes I struggle to see that…esp now as I have a tow truck bill, a mechanic bill, and no car for a few days….it’s so easy to hang on to those things, and sometimes so hard to see the simple things that we are blessed with.

Count your blessings today, take a moment to write five of them down, share them with me if you’d like, and I’ll help you remember them when times get tough for you.

I’ll post some of my latest work tomorrow, so stop back, and in all truthfulness, I’m looking to buy a new van, rather then fix the old car, so if anyone knows one for sale by owner, send them my way!

Many Blessings and good night!

I HAVE had that happen!!!  Scariest thing ever considering I was going 55 mph at the time!!!!  it is the oddest feeling to know that you’re pushing the brake and nothing is happening!!  Glad you’re safe girl!!  See you Monday!
