What I don’t know much about is being married for fifty years. I’ve actually only been married for 51 Months, so when Pat and Gene called me for this session, my heart went pitter-patter for them. I took this couple to a near by park for the session, so we could use the trails. While we began to walk and talk about what images I had in mind, the couple interrupted me several times, to remind me what they wanted. “We want to be holding hands, we’d like to be walking away, or very close together, we’d like to be relaxed and not very formal, casual you know….etc” It was a breath of fresh air to have a couple so confident in the love they’ve shared for 50 years….to have them tell me about photographing their casual love.

What I do know about being married 50 years….there is nothing casual about it, it is work! Blood, sweat, tears, and commitment that you can’t find very often anymore. I was honored to be a part of this session, it was an honor to learn from two people whom have had 100 + years of love.
