I wanted to personally thank all of our loyal clients.  Thank you for allowing me to get to know you and your families.  Thank you for the genuine interest  in what’s next for me and all the well wishes.  It’s only bigger and better from here!  I am truly excited for the future and am thankful  for the friendships that I have made while working here.  Sherry, Dani and Kandi have been truly amazing friends and I would be nothing without them!

A million thanks to everyone!

I’m looking forward to the rest of my summer having a garage sale, camping and spending time with my husband Luke, our dog t-bone and our families.

What are we going to do with all the past files from the studio?

              All images I have photographed in the last three years will become my property. If people are still interested in ordering portraits from the past, orders need to be by Tuesday, August 5th at 4:00 . After that I can’t guarantee prints will be available for order from past sessions.

              Our staff received the news this Tuesday morning that Barnett Photo (the studio and the lab) will be closing permanently next Saturday, August 9th, 2008 at 5pm

Since we’ve received the news, we have made several attempts to contact our clients and we ask that you spread the word to those who love us most. You still may be receiving a phone call from us if we are able to. Ideally we would have loved to talk to each and every one of you about this. Please don’t take it personal if time doesn’t allow us to say our good bye’s to all of you.

Kendall and I understand that many questions will arise and we will do our best to answer them. Please respect that our staff has a lot of work ahead of us in the next 10 days. Not only do we have to close up shop here, we have to look for new sources of income to support ourselves and our husbands. It is also an emotional time for us as we look back through memories, all that we have built together and all the trials ahead of us. We have become a very close family here and change is sometimes hard for everyone.

Your Questions:

What if I have prints/orders that I haven’t picked up?
    *All orders and display prints must be picked up by Thursday, August 7th(unless other arrangements have been made) Nothing will be held beyond that date.

Can I still order portraits and products from my past sessions?
  *We are still accepting print orders until 4pm Tuesday, August 5th. You can stop in or call in your order. No specialty products will be produced. All orders placed will be 50% off. Some limitations (such as creating composite prints) will apply due to time restrictions. All orders must be paid in full at the time of order. Following order completion you will be able to pick your order up from the lab or we can mail it to your home.

Will you still be photographing at the studio?
  *We are no longer booking studio appointments. I will be able to accept location appointments after Sept 1st. At that time I will be self employed and new policies will be in affect.

How do we contact you in the future?
  *You can contact us via barnettportraits@yahoo.com until further notice. If you are not on our email list and would like to be, please email us and let us know.

As much as I love to blog, to write and to create, I’ve been struggling through this blog. It’s one I never wanted to write. Kendall and I will be here until we punch out at 5 pm on Friday, August 8th. We encourage your thoughts, your prayers and your visits to say goodbye. There aren’t enough words to tell you what you and your families have meant to us. Many of you have become our family.  My personal prayer is that you’ll continue to see us in your portraits.

I have worked for Barnett Photo for 6 years 5 months 16 days and 2 hours, and before next Friday I plan to share a trip down memory lane, so stay tuned for those images and stories to appear.

                   It’s been a tough few days here at the studio, but no matter what the struggles we face, children always brighten the day here. Kids are completely inspiring with their endless questions, fearless minds and open loving hearts. Here are a few of the angels I met with yesterday…

You’re never too old or to young to have your portrait taken. It’s never too late or too early to be photographed. Many people have asked me over the years “When is the best time to be photographed (for seniors, for families for _fill in the blank_).” They ask me as if there is a special time of year that everyone else does it. The good news is… Today is the best day. Get out there and make some memories, take your kids on a nature walk, visit a grandparent, chat with a neighbor, and record it on film. None of us know what tomorrow will bring, and sometimes tomorrow means hardships, struggles and sad news you can’t control. So use today as a time to create , to capture something that only you can. You have the power to stop time, even if only for a brief moment, and if you don’t feel comfortable stopping time, call me and I’d be glad to.

Today I wanted to share with you what  A Portrait is: 

               Kendall, Kandi, Lucas and I(and others) will be enjoying this beautiful day by ending it at the outdoor movie tonight! If you haven’t heard….tonight outside the civic center(behind the new Hilton) the city of Mankato is playing a movie, along with making pop and popcorn available for only 25 cents.  The movie will start at sundown, so bring your blanket, or favorite lawn chair to cozy up with friends and family. There is no charge for admission, so pick up the neighbor kids and get out of the house!

If you spot us there be sure to say hello! We’ll have a special treat for any kids that give us high fives before the movie!

Tonight’s movie is  The Goonies , a movie that thrilled us kids growing up in the 80’s!  Take note the movie does have some language and a scary pirate ship!

                   So many sweet faces to share with you today! Each of them with his or her precious little unique story of life. A few of these children were just born and a few ready to take on the world, but each of them made me smile.

It’s always an honor to me when parents choose us to photograph their kids. I see it as an opportunity to bring out the best in someone, to learn what makes then happy, giggle, and jump for joy. Here are some images of the precious children I met with this past week….

                  Cesil (pronounced see-seal), who works for the YWCA, stopped in a few days ago to be photographed for the Womens Inc magazine. Her story and photos will be featured on the cover of the October Issue of Womens Inc. If you are not familiar with the publishing Click here for more information. She has a beautiful story to share, and a sparkling personality…but I’ll let you find all that out for yourself when you read the article!

     There will be limited staff at Barnett Photo this weekend. The studio will be closed since Kendall and I will both be out of the office this weekend (Friday-Monday). We are both packed up and ready to go camping! Kendall will be heading to Wisconsin with her new camper and her family(her dog t-bone too!). Kandi headed to Iowa last night to volunteer her time at the summer camp where her friends work. I am heading to Wilmar, Minnesota to be a counselor for my church youth and to enjoy the Sonshine Christian Music Festival (where I met my husband 2 years ago). Danie is out of the lab as well, she is having her tonsils taken out today! Ouch! We wish her a quick and painless recovery. So if you call, or email and get no response, be patient with us!
