A NILMDTS story

Monday, April 23rd, 2012

This is a true story. One I am not often able to share because I am asked to keep confidential. Some of the most beautiful families I meet as a photographer, also have stories much like this…

I knew from the first time I spoke with the ISJ nurse on a Saturday afternoon, this story would be different, this story is going to change a life. This story has changed my life.  The day I met Samuel and those who surrounding him, I truly felt a call on my life to do something more  (but that is a post for another day).

Note: I’ve received  written permission from this Mankato family involved to share this with you, through the words of the mommy herself……

This little man is one of the many newborns I’ve recently met at the studio. His is very handsome and slept the entire session! We keep the studio 80+ degrees with little babies, so they can be undressed and still be content.

This precious family was here for our free maternity session shortly before welcoming their precious little boy into the world. Shortly after his birth they visited me for these soft images.

When planning for your baby’s first portrait, it is important to remember:

1. To Keep it simple, was is so precious about babies is their tiny toes, hands ears etc, Busy clothing/patterns only distracts

2. To Plan about an hour for the session, and know that baby is in charge, if she needs a break, she gets one

3. Our Temperature, newborns like to be warm, so we keep the studio very cozy, hot even, to keep naked babies content. Mom & dad may want to consider dressing in something lightweight.

4. That Starting a tradition begins with this session, if you want to include a special blanket, or keepsake to watch baby grow, bring it to the session.

5. Relax and baby will too.

We always encourage a phone consultation prior to newborn sessions so we can provide guidance and answers to an questions about the session.

And one more makes five- Free Maternity Sessions

Friday, July 29th, 2011

This Precious family came to Inspired for their first visit this past July, in celebration of welcoming baby #3. When the mommy heard about our free Maternity sessions she packed up the family and traveled over 90 minutes to create these (and many more) images with her boys.  I had a great time asking the boys about the anticipation of their new sibling, they both seemed quite silently proud to welcome the new one (Who is expected to arrive right around Olivia’s birthday) I spoke with the big brothers about all the things a baby will need, like wipes, diapers and blankets, so we piled them puff of supplies and let life happen for this first image. Congrats Thiners!
