It’s a Family Tradition

As Christmas day approaches I wanted to share with you some fun creative ways we celebrate the holidays.

The Alphabet Gift: My Mom comes from a large family and our gift exchange was simplified twelve years ago when my mom suggested we have a letter theme. The first year everyone was encouraged to bring a small gift beginning with the letter A. Each year following the letter would change to the next letter of the alphabet. It has been exciting to see what people will bring. This year the letter is L. I’ve been trying to find a creative way to box up LOVE, the greatest gift of all. What things can you think of that start with L?

The Ornament Exchange: We recently celebrated Christmas with my family this past week and began a new tradition, involving tree ornaments. The idea is that we exchange a gift free of cost with each other. Our family was encouraged to bring a tree ornament(off of their own tree) with meaning that they were willing to part with, wrap it up and include a little message that tells the story of that ornament.

Trivia fun: Another free tradition we have is holiday trivia. Here is a link to some things you may want to try with your family. Buy a few things at a dollar store to the quickest player with the most correct answers to rev up the competition.
