Family Reunion Photography

Friday, June 24th, 2011

Once day each summer my family and their families gather to celebrate in a style unlike any other I’ve seen. We call it a family reunion but it’s more comparable to a small county fair. We have a silent auction(where we raise funds for the following year) a raffle, loads of foods, time to relax, and many fun games and prizes for all people and all ages. This year the theme was “gather round the family tree” We were each encouraged to bring a leaf to add to the family tree, with each sibling (my mom’s sisters and brothers) having their own branches. It was great to see the unique way in which leaves were presented. Here are a few images of the many i photographed that day. I didn’t hear a count but our family has 125+ members.

If your special loved ones are getting together soon, I would love to be invited to photograph the day!

David Grupa My friend & a Mentor In need

Thursday, June 23rd, 2011

My Fellow Photographer and dear friend who has shared more Life advice with me than many others is fighting cancer.  David Grupa  is one amazing fellow, I know how much he’s impacted my life since we met in 2004 and I know many many other professional photographers would say the same. He gives endless to charitable organizations and works tirelessly to make everyone’s life more worth living for. He is humble and kind and someone I thank God for more then he knows.  Take a moment to google David Grupa and see the many ways he has made an impact.  My next fundraiser (details coming soon) will be to benefit David & his medical expenses, until then here is how you can help.

This Taken From David Grupa’s Facebook Benefit Site:

Cancer sucks!

In January of 2011, David Grupa was diagnosed with cancer. Surgery was performed in February with the hopes that no further treatment would be needed. Unfortunately, subsequent scans showed some cancer was still present. Eventually a treatment plan was set and weeks of radiation began. Currently David is feeling well and awaiting the next scan.

While the events of the past 6 months can be summed up into a couple of sentences, the emotional and financial toll is not as easy to detail.

David’s friends can’t fight his cancer for him, but they have organized a benefit to help offset the overwhelming financial burden that comes with medical procedures.

Please visit www.fordavidsbenefit.com to view an online auction (over 80 items) for photographers, make a monetary donation or purchase photographic art, donated by amazing photographers!

The auction will start June 22 at 9:00 am CT. Art sales are available now!

This Family has become very near and dear to me as mommy and me both have two kids that are similar in age. We have many stories to share. After the session I was able to have sometime playing with the new big brother building block and riding a little bike around the gallery, very precious!  Here is the newest addition to the family…
