Inspired Portrait Photography

I met this sweet family when they were still a family of three and they came to the studio at Barnett Portrait Studio. In the years I’ve known them I’ve gotten to photograph them in thier home in Owatonna and most recently in our newly remodeled camera room here. This family (and a few others) spent a few weekends trying to make it to Mankato through the December snow storms. After three attempts we were able to create these for them just in time to get them printed on holiday cards.

The younger of these two little men recently celebrated his 18 month milestone and was happy to share the celebration with us in the camera room. He brought his older brother and parents out to the studio in late December before ringing in the new year. Daddy is a big hunter and mom brought in a few items to help tell that special story between father and sons.  His mommy and I are cousins and grew up together, so it’s been a blast getting to know these precious boys, like nephews to me.

  I had to include this silly image  below from the session. I don’t always share the “out-takes” from our sessions, but I think everyone needs to be reminded these moments are quite normal and add some laughter to the memory of your portrait session…

This sweet-heart mommy, fiance, bride to be and friend of mine at church got a great big surprise a couple weeks ago. She thought she was having a long distance conversation with him from his current military base in Afghanistan, when shortly after their conversation, he showed up on her door steps. It was a Huge surprise to everyone. She had thought we’d be taking these family and engagement photos in April, but called me up when she discovered this was his two week leave from his service.  Here are a few images from their session, they will be in front of our cameras again in September for their magical wedding at Hosanna Lutheran.

This little lady came to visit us for the first time last week. She is around 3 months old, just ready to hold up her head on her own and starting to explore rolling over. She was a sweetheart the entire session, and mulitple outfit changes. She spent about 45 minutes in the camera room with me, her mommy and daddy. Some of her expressions were priceless, here is a peak from her session.
