Inspired Portrait Photography

As I dec the halls and listen to holiday tunes, I’m reminded of a Christmas growing up. One of my best friends and I loved the song Happy Christmas by John Lennon. Each Fall in choir class we’d ask to sing it for the holiday  program  with high hopes. Each year sadly we were not able to locate the sheet music to do so. I recall asking year after year(I am sure were got a bit annoying). Choir was one of my favorite parts of high school, and our choir Director, Mrs. Lund was at the top of my list as favorite teachers. So during my freshman year of college I came home for winter break to enjoy the holiday choir concert put on by my alumni high school, Fulda High. To my great surprise that year, the sheet music was located and the choir preformed Happy Christmas(War is Over) for all to hear. It was a bitter sweet concert, a bittersweet memory.

This group/family of six kids was a blast to work with.  They purchased one of my silent auction donations from a recent youth auction at Hosanna Lutheran Mankato and were also referred to us from a one of my favorite clients (yeah Lauren & Jack!). With the help of the older sisters,  they all got dressed up ready for portraits to surprise their parents with for Christmas. Here are a few of my favorites from the session….

This little princess has amazing parents, her daddy is a hard working farmer and mommy a graphic designer. They came by a few weeks ago with this little lady and a few fun ideas for newborn portraits. At that first session (see this post) she wasn’t all that excited to be here, and I encouraged them to try a different day (because we always guarantee satisfaction) to create the images mom had in mind. Here are my favorites from her second newborn session. The image of the feet, wasn’t my idea(I’ll admit that) but it may be one of my favorite baby images ever. I told daddy he’ll need to do this at every milestone session (3,6,9 & 12) so we can watch her grow in a unique way.
