Two and counting

I met this sweet little angel when she was six months old, its amazing how much she has grown and developed a rock star personality in so little time. Mommy picked out a great brightly colored outfit for her spring session. Here is a peak at how we create art for the two year olds.

Tots to Teens Conference

I will be out of the office this afternoon at a conference in Bloomington. Sandy Puc, a well established photographer from Littleton CO, is in Minnesota to speak. She is the founder of Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep, and specializes in children’s photography. Tonight I will be learning all sorts of techniques to create something special for you and your children.

Kids say the most amazing things, just listen.

The oldest of two brothers(featured below), made me smile from ear to ear, when I simply asked him, “so what did dad tell you that you could have(do, get etc) after you’ve done a great job with this photo session.” and he simply said “great pictures” (typically, it’s ice cream etc, although I never encourage bribing) literally I wanted to hug that kid to bits and pieces, he is certainly wise behind his years. It’s not every day I get 12 year olds even willing to enter the studio, and this one made my day. He and his younger brother has just came in from the hottest day of the year, to the nice cool basement studio. We chatted about food, music, sports and then we created images of them both together and apart as something special for their dad, who is a close personal friend of mine.

Regional Print Comp Awards

Last week I won four awards for the four images I entered at the regional professional photographers print competition. Three of the images received merits and blue ribbons, while one received a red ribbon. The four images are now being sent on to the international print comp for final review and possible national awards. That judging takes place on May 22nd, 2009.

Sweet Little Play Time

I have known this precious little girl since she was born, I met her mommy when we were in my cousin’s wedding together. Rachel is now two years old and ready to discover the world. Here is some picks from her most recent session. I love the one of her jumping, there is something about kids at play that makes me smile!

Greetings from Breezy Point, Minnesota

It is now day three at the Northern Light Professional Photographers Convention up here in Northern, MN. This is the first day we have seen sunshine here, but don’t be fooled there is still ice on the lakes here, so it’s a bit chilly. On Sunday I took part in the annual print competition and scored well on all four of the images I entered(more on that later this week). I spent many hours watching  fellow photographer’s portraits being judged as well. It’s a very educational experience. The judges are other pro photographers from all over the country, and some of them are giving seminars here as well. Yesterday I woke up early and took the CPP certification test. I will not know the results for another few weeks, but will happily share that news with you when the results arrive. I also took in some educational seminars, more of which will be going on today. Tonight we have an awards banquet, and dinner for the NLPPA followed by a dance and some fun. It’s a great time for all MN photographers to get together and enjoy this amazing thing we call a career.
