Great Expectations: A baby on the way

My husband, Lucas, and I have decided to share with all of you our tidings of great joy. This September 1st we are expecting our first child. It’s been an exciting four & 1/2 months as we have slowly shared the news with loved ones, close friends and clients. We know there is much to be done, to be bought, to be made, to be cleaned, to be moved, to be shared….But there is nothing that has compared to the peace & joys I’ve felt knowing God has given us the opportunity to raise a life, to be parents.

A friend who knows me better then many, e-mailed me this song today. I’ve been a Hootie and the blowfish fan since I was in the ninth grade, this is the lead singer from that band with a song that touched my heart. For the new mommies/daddies out there, may it also touch yours.

Kids at Play- In Home Session

Some moms find it a great joy that I offer to bring my studio to them ! Here is a case where we did just that. It is often much easier to pack up the studio and bring it to a client’s home, rather then pack up four kids (ages 14 weeks to 7 years) and bring them to the studio. For everyone it’s a win win! I played for about 45 minutes with these four and the camera. I learned all about high school musical, and how to take a rocket ship to the moon…good stuff! Here are some(ok lots) of my favorite images from the playful session.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle…

…three strong values I have personally that I’m inspired to keep in my business life as well. Many of the props I use were bought at second hand store, (like once upon a child, which I love) thrift stores, garage sales, etc. I enjoy giving something a new life, by adding paint or new fabric to create a unique item. I’ve called on my family and friends in the past to let them know I am looking for items to Reuse in the studio, in hopes to make our landfills a little less.

In our home we recycle as much as we can, I’m proud to say we have much more recycling each month then we do trash. We’ve also began composting this spring to reduce our carbon footprint even more.

Now that we are in the new home(with 5 acres) and we’re remodeling our studio space, we discovered many things we’ll need that we didn’t need in the past. I am looking to you for any help locating these used items to purchase….
Riding lawn mower
Weed whacker
Chairs, Benches, Bean Bags
Fabrics
Wooden items, fence pieces etc
Paint, misc colors
Window frames, doors,

We are eager to buy them used from someone who may not need them anymore, or maybe you have something just taking up space, and would like someone to give it a new life. We are also on the hunt for a new family style vehicle, such as a mini van or suv, should you know anyone with one to sell, let me know! Thanks very much! Have a great Monday!
