I am very eager for spring and the many opportunities for a photographer to play with light, and to work with the land, I fear spring won’t come soon enough for me!

But in the meantime, We anticipate January to be an exciting time for us, as we remodel the studio, decorate the gallery, establish a sales room, and a kid friendly area as well. Your thoughts and suggestions are important to me, please continue to be involved in this process, as this is as much your studio as it is mine!

A few clients have already asked about photo sessions in Dec/Jan/Feb. I will continue to book sessions as I always have, with location and on site photography, sessions will be limited and will be booked on a first come first serve basis. Call anytime to book yours! 507.381.8007

The Big Announcement

First, I must say thank you again for your patience and understanding in the days following the closing of Barnett Photography(my previous employer). Inspired Portrait Photography was officially born on Sept, 1st 2008, and since that day we have been eagerly looking into a new property that the studio could call home.

We have found that location, and we making the big move this week!

Inspired Portrait Photography will be located at 41295 Us Highway #14. North Mankato, Minnesota. You can find us on highway 14 going  toward Nicollet exactly 4.5 miles from the intersection of 169 and 14 on the left hand side. We are the first home past the turn to North Links Golf Course.

Our estimated grand opening will be February 2009, we plan to have a big celebration and will be inviting you all to stop by, we look forward to seeing you then. Don’t let me confuse you though, as I am still photographing from now until the grand opening.

A bit about the property

Inspired Portrait Photography will be located on a 5 acre spread which will also include the home of my husband and I. The studio will have a its own building on the lot, along with endless possibilities to photograph outdoors. We have discovered mature trees, a pond, many places for landscaping and a few rustic out buildings. I can’t wait for spring!

What can I say except that is has been a dream come true.

I have many many people to thank for this, but that is a whole different blog, stay tuned! I am pressed for time, but Lucas wanted to make sure I said hello from him as well! We are on our way to close on the property and then headed to the cities for a holiday party with fellow photographers!

I will be back tomorrow! Blessings Pictures to come later this week!

I almost died today

Okay so I may be over reacting a bit, but have you ever had your brakes go out in your car, without warning? This is the second time in my life this has happened to me, but it’s something I haven’t gotten used to. (For those of you in Mankato, this occured at the intersection of Madison Ave and Riverfront.) During the lunch time rush, I was slowing as I approached a purple van stopped in front of me, when my brake peddle went right to the floor. With quick thinking and surely the grace of God, I missed the van(and many many other drivers) by centimeters, and pulled safely to the curb. Instantly my mind raced to the “what if’s and “almosts” and “just barely” of what could have been.

I don’t share many personal stories here, but today I felt the need to share, because it certainly gave me a wake up call. I felt better about coming home tonight, I left the dishes pile up, pushed some of my work off until tomorrow and I wrote a dear friend a letter instead, next I’m heading off to enjoy some quite time with my husband.

Each day we have is a blessing, sometimes I struggle to see that…esp now as I have a tow truck bill, a mechanic bill, and no car for a few days….it’s so easy to hang on to those things, and sometimes so hard to see the simple things that we are blessed with.

Count your blessings today, take a moment to write five of them down, share them with me if you’d like, and I’ll help you remember them when times get tough for you.

I’ll post some of my latest work tomorrow, so stop back, and in all truthfulness, I’m looking to buy a new van, rather then fix the old car, so if anyone knows one for sale by owner, send them my way!

Many Blessings and good night!
