27 Things

I recently celebrated my 28th birthday on December 1st, 2008. People are often surprised when they discover I am as old as I am(not that 28 is old) because I often have the energy of someone who is closer to 18. So as I was looking back(and looking ahead) I have come up with a list of 27 things I’ve was blessed with this past year, 2008. (in no part order)

1. Jan: Had a bonding experience with Kendall and Kandi as we painted the Barnett Studio 15ft(+) high ceilings
2. March married Lucas, the most supportive and loving person I know.
3. Many road trips to the cities with my BFF Kendall, for dresses, shoes, photo equipment
4. March: Celebrated Easter morning with my family and my new inlaws
5. Summer: The joy of photographing my brother’s two kids and their dog
6. Fall: Met 2 amazing girls from LeSueuer, Jessica and Katie
7. July, A weekend of Sonshine, at the Christian Musical Festival in Wilmar MN
8. July, A few days of relaxing with my family at a cabin in Fairmont MN
9. August: Spent a week saying goodbyes to friends/clients at my previous employment
10. Looked at 7+ houses with Andew Kolars
11.April: Flew to Orlando, Florida for a week vacation for our honeymoon
12.Fall: Displayed my work at a MOPS meeting
13.Received Letters of support from past/presents clients showing support for my new business
14. My husband purchased our new camera and dream lens
15. Many lunches with my good friends Danie, Kendall, Kandi, Jeremie, Renee, Jill,
16. Good health for me and my family
17. My nephew (15) choose to be confirmed in the Lutheran faith
18. Friends and family helped us move, thanks sooo much!
19. Womeninc magazine published my photography
20.My nephew’s spinal meningitis was detected and treated for a full recovery
21. Sept: Inspired Portrait Photography was born
22. A new bed, unlike anything I’ve ever owned
23. Nov. Hugs from my aunts, and a weekend with the ladies of my family
24. The Financing we needed to buy a new home
25. The keys to the new home(also a new roof, septic, & water heater)
26. Bonded with My dad/brother(making pork sausage), my new sister-in-law Lacey(painting), Michele(at a wedding/e-mails)
27. My brakes went out in my car, and I survived

My wish is that you may be blessed with 100 wonderful things in 2009

Illustrative Honors

Twin Cities Professional Photographers awards banquet was held this past Monday night in Minneapolis. Lucas and I battled through the winter weather advisory to arrive in time to for good food and great friends. I have been a member of TCPPA for three years and it’s a professional organization I value very much. Last month I entered TCPPA print competition with images of my landscape & maternity portraits. The prints I entered earned me the honors of Second Place for Illustrative Photographer of the year.

TCPPA is an affiliate group of Minnesota Professional Photographers(with which I have been a member since 2003) that holds monthly workshops in Eden Prairie. Although Mankato is not in the twin cities, I have found being a member has changed the way I photograph, and keeps the fire of creativity alive each month. It’s worth the drive every month.
