Coming Up Soon!

I am excited about things at Barnett Portrait Studio! With great weather approaching and our client base growing, I couldn’t be more eager to create art work for your home. Kendall has been hard at work getting everything ready to go for MAYBA day

What is MAYBA/MAGFA Day?

It is a day created by the original owners of Barnett Photo to highlight the Mankato Area Youth Baseball teams (and softball teams) with sports photography and a light hearted approach to creating smiles. On Saturday, May 31st, we will be set up with 4 great photographers and 4 assistants at Dakota Meadows Middle School. Our goal is to keep the focus on building kids up through photography and reminding them how much we care. We’ve found that photographing sports pictures on a non-game day helps to keep everyone focused on the task at hand. We look forward to every portrait we are given the opportunity to create with a smile. We also create team photos to share with everyone in the Mankato Free Press, so look for our portraits soon! See you there!

and I’ve been working on information for the class of 2009, including the scholarships we are giving out, new props/backgrounds for the new class, as well as preparing for our annual open house for High School Seniors….

What is the Annual Open House for High School Seniors?

It’s a one day event created for the Class of 2009 and their family and friends. We provide information about the latest in senior portraits, from slide shows, studio tours, dvd’s and new unique products…we are here to share it with you! There will be a gift certificate sale going on all day(Your chance to save big, even if you’re not a senior), refreshments provided and goodies handed out….more to come on that, until then have a glance at the flyers our class of 2009 will be receiving soon!

Sweet Little Joseph

….is turning one year old all ready! Sweet Joseph returned to the studio this week to shine his smile once again! He has a sparkle in his eye and a skip in his step(or crawl)! We played peak-a boo, find the mommy, and tapped away on my pretend drum. Thanks Joseph and mommy, you are superstars and we look forward to your next visit. Greetings Class of 2009……

Your glory days are right around the corner, We’ve already had our first session of the season, with Tressa. Her older sister came to us three years ago when we were still shooting film. Both of the young ladies were dancers (thus all the fun clothing options below) and were a pleasure to work with! We talked about jobs, family, and her future! Best of luck in your upcoming year!

Senior Portrait Scholarships Available
Class of 2009

Barnett Portrait Studio, Mankato MN, is offering Senior Portrait Scholarships for two deserving high school seniors graduating with the Class of 2009. The Scholarships given will be valued $350 in portrait credit each.

Applications are being accepted now through July 11 th . Winners will be announced on July 22 nd , 2008.  The information bellow describes the application process, the qualifications and the reason why Barnett Portrait Studio has chosen to give portrait scholarships.

Class of 2009! What’s Your Story?
School is out and summer is right around the corner. This could mean many different things for various students, but if you are an upcoming high school senior, it is time for your senior pictures.  Senior portraits are something that most high school students look forward to and start planning for years in advance.  Students wonder which photographer they will go to, what clothing they will wear, and what their poses may look like.

For most students it is just a matter of choosing a studio and scheduling his/her appointment.  Barnett Portrait Studio understands that some students don’t have the opportunity to simply make that choice. Both Sherry and Kendall grew up knowing their families lived on a tight budget. When it was time for their senior portraits to be taken, money was scarce, and they both treasured the few senior portraits they could afford to have. Sherry made a promise she would one day give back to other deserving students that had the dream of sharing senior portraits. There are a variety of reasons that can prevent seniors from being able to have the portraits they are dreaming of.  Because of the rising prices, unforeseen circumstances, and various other hardships, many families are experiencing financial setbacks. Everyone deserves to feel the best they can feel through portraits. The hope is that Barnett Portrait Studio can help our community one portrait at a time.  Our goal for the class of 2009 is that everyone has the chance to share with others through portraiture.

The two scholarship packages will include: the session fee for an indoor/location session, one 11×14 wall portrait, senior folio, gift prints and wallets to share with friends and family. Applications are required to submit an essay (250 words or less) telling us why you (or the person you are nominating) deserves to receive one of the scholarships.  Awards may be based on either financial need or personal circumstances.  Applications are available at the studio, or by calling 507.387.4146

Please send the completed applications to the studio or drop them off during business hours (Tues-Sat 8:30 -5) For more information please contact Sherry or Kendall at 507.387.4146
                                  Or email us at info@barnettportraitstudio.com

Please forward this on to anyone you know you might be interested in submitting an application. We encourage students in Mankato and the surrounding towns to apply.
