Conference Delayed!

I was scheduled to leave Mankato, late afternoon today. The goal being I would drive to the twin cities to meet my friend and fellow photographer Kirsten and from there we would car pool to Fargo. (brrr) BUT, our friend David Grupa called to mention he was driving that road right now and it’s “not good”. He said around Alexandria there were semis jack knifed and cars in the ditch and he hadn’t seen the white lines on  the road for over and hour….so we decided to wait. The plan is now to drive up tomorrow to guarantee sunlight the whole trip. Please think of us while we travel!

We are headed to Fargo to attend the Northern Light Professional Photographers Association convention. Speaker and vendors will be available to educate us and sell us on the latest and greatest investments in the pro photo world. I am excited to attend, in part because there is also a print competition that takes place. Here are the four prints I entered this year….

Spring Food Drive

It’s Going On Now Through Saturday!

Did you know that all week long we are collecting donations for our local food shelf? Donations tend to slow down for the food shlef this time of year and we want to help as many people as we can. So, if the spirit moves you, please drop off a non perishable item or two or three at the studio today. We are giving out $5 coupons (to use either in the studio or the lab) to everyone who stops in to donate!

Thank You!

What’s in a Soundtrack to Life?

I’ve been pondering lately what the soundtrack of people’s live’s would be, if we all were assigned one.  Music can add an array of feelings to anything. We hear music in movies, in worship, on the radio, put into slide shows, parades, and esp commercials, but if there was music with us everywhere we went….what would ours sound like?

Since the 6th grade I’ve loved the Song “Hold My Hand” by Hootie and the Blowfish, the lyrics of the song include “I want to love you the best that I can”. So I’ve always thought it was a good theme song to have to define the person I would like to be, but never considered it my soundtrack.

And as a silly little confession, I used to listen to the soundtrack from Empire Records(a cheesy movie made in the early 90’s) over and over again, simply because I thought I could be like the cool kids that work at the music store. I put that VHS in tonight to watch the movie again to understand why I loved the movie so much, it was all about the soundtrack. All the songs are happy and uplifting…..

That’s the person I hope to be happy and uplifting, encouraging someone else everyday. So I didn’t come up with the songs that have defined my whole life, but I’ll add that to my Bucket List as a to do soon!

I heard this song for the first time tonight and thought I’d share the lyrics with you, it made me smile.

Brandon Heath, Let’s make it last

Rain come down tonight
Except for the bump on my head I’m feeling alright
Dancing to our favorite tune
I pulled you in way too soon

Running through the yard
Splashing through puddles with you without regard
Do you think the neighbors will care
So what if they do they’ll just stare
The kids will all say its not fair

The way that we love
The way that we laugh
It’s something worth seeing
So let’s make it last
Let’s make it last

Come some sunny day
We’ll call in sick to our jobs
What will we say
She’s coming down with a flu
I think that I’m catching it too
This is what love makes you do

The way that we love
The way that we laugh
It’s something worth seeing
So let’s make it last

Live out each moment
They go by so fast
Let’s make it last

What would your soundtrack be?
