Lately there has been no stopping me from thinking about the past. I have been watching old home movies, digging through boxes of old pictures and finding things I created years ago. I think some people call this being nestolgic (although I am not sure if that’s how most people would spell it).

Last night I found a collection of things I wrote. Some of them essays for college, some poetry, some just letters to my self. Most of them had a bright red pen wrote all over them from my favorite professor (Joe Wenderoth, Poet) highlighting the strong parts and the weak parts of my writing. I haven’t wrote anything worth re-reading in a a long time, but it felt good to return there.

Before I started my BFA in Art, I was an English Education Major, then Just and English Major, then a Communications Major, then the staff and I at SSU(as it were in my day) Made up a major of just writing and speech. How I ended simply turning those styles of communication into photographer, I am not sure. But the truth is I’m going to start writing again. I am sure words will quickly trickle back and find them selfs with my photography. So we’ll see, it’s a great time to explore the words inside of me.

Tomorrow is going to be great!!!! (Saturday Too)

For the next two days we will open our doors for the Class of 2008. Seems like we just had our first “Senior Days” but this is all ready the 3rd year I’ve had it. I borrowed the idea from Jay Young after him speaking about it being a sucess for him. Each year it grows and grows. I have been so thank ful for Kendall’s help getting everything ready for our two day event..

We invite over 1200 students (and their families) from the area via direct mailings to stop by the studio this friday or saturday. Attendendees will get a chance to win a digital camera, 50+ door prizes , enjoy popcorn, pizza, and other various refreshments. We encourage everyone to enjoy a studio tour, watch our slide show, ask any questions they may have about the Senior Experience, and of course have fun, dance and be merry!

Our thanks goes out to the awesome awesome businesses that donated door prizes and coupons for our graduates! Prixes will be given out on a first come first serve basis, so seniors come early!!!

It’s MAYBA DAY

Saturday, June 2nd, 2007

Sounds like something cool right? M.A.Y.B.A. stands for Mankato area youth baseball association. It’s a non-profit that puts together lots of little league teams to play against each other all summer long.

So we provide a day where teams can come to the feild and get thier team and individual portraits taken, We set up four “bases” or stations each with a photograher and assistant. Teams are given times prior to today and when they get there the general manager tells them what base to go to. All in all it’s a pretty organized deal and we are usually done by 1, taking teams every 15 minutes or so.

Unfortunately sometimes no show or call at the last minute to reschedule, in that case we have to go to the feilds on a game day and photograph a team. Either way it’s great to get in the community and see what the youth are up to. I haven’t been at maybe day for the last 2 years because I had weddings to photograph instead. So I am excited to be wedding free today and ready to rock and roll with the little kids!!!

God Bless HAve a great day, it’s a beautiful one in kato, so far!
