March Madness
Monday, March 12th, 2007So really, it;s been two months since I have blogged. The portrait studio has had a face lift. I have been VERY busy with that. Someone once told me that the photography business doesn’t have a “un-busy” season, rather it’s just a different kind of busy. Thanks Rick Stewert of Rickers in Worthington for letting me make that my most recent Moto. So yep cleaning house, purchased some new tables and displays to make the lobby more like home away from homeish. For the last 3 months we have been turning an old storage room into a consult/ future presentation room. I hit a road block with the crazy demensions of it. It’s basically a triangle shaped room, looks cool, but i can’t fuigure out where to put the furniture, any sugestions? I’ll post pics of that soon, so you get the idea.
We also have our annual Mankato Figure skating Club portrait shoot at the end of the month, so we have been busy making and purchasing props for that. It’s on of my favorite sessions of the year. My staff and I bring pretty much the entire studio down to the lobby of the skating rink and set up a (not-so) portable studio there.
I have also hired my assistant full time now. Kendall Raatz graduated from MSUM in 2004 with a BFA in printmaking/art. Her efforts so far have been incredible. She is catching on fast to how crazy one day can be at the studio. More then once she has asked me “how on earth did you do all this by yourself”. With then I can only say, “I brought it home, had many understanding clients and stayed late many nights”. I can’t tell you how worth it is to hire out and delegate the projects I can. By June I am hoping to have her helping with family portraits, so look for her to be shadowing me the next few months. Stop in and meet her, she’s a sweet gal.
So that’s all for now. Have a great day!
